Kalehua is an ordained minister and Bishop for the Hawaiian Islands.

Kalehua officiates at wedding ceremonies throughout Oahu, using a combination of the English, Hawaiian and Japanese languages, as the couple wishes. As he welcomes, counsels and officiates over the weddings, he shares his unique perspectives with the bride and groom, and their families.

Kalehua shares his message with the couples during their counseling sessions. He talks about 3 important words: aloha, truth and responsibility.

  • The first word is Aloha. Aloha is broken down into two words, "Alo" and "Ha". "Alo" means "in the presence of" or "together" and "Ha" is "the breath of God" - when God breathes life into man.

When the ceremony ends, Kalehua says "Aloha no". "No" means "forever or always". "Aloha no" means "may the breath of God forever or always be with you".

  • The second word is True or Truth. First you must be true to yourself, then only can you be true with each other.

  • The third word is Responsibility. In your marriage, you do not own each other, you are with each other. The only thing we can own in life is responsibility and accountability.

Listening to Kalehua's words, couples gain a new perspective and leave with a greater understanding and outlook.
